The Mo-Tor was canceled for May 18th but there is an organized ride of the race course any of the 3 distances can be ridden Sat. May 18th. Ride departs at 8:30am trying to get a large group. Could be a good warm up for Skyline. Details on link below.

Can SVVC members still get a discount on Rudy Project sunglasses? I got prescription lens eyewear a couple of years ago, and the prescription needs updated. Any information or key words required would be appreciated. Thanks. P.S. I took 3rd in the 60-69 age group Presque Isle TT last Sunday. A couple of 60 and 62 year old kids beat me. I was oldest in the age category (67). Proud to wear the SVVC colors! Jerry

Hi All,

Starting Monday, May 13 at 6:00 pm, Charm will be hosting a beginners ride. The milage will be 10 miles the first ride and increase each week to max out at 25 miles. This is a ride to instruct and encourage new riders.

Starting Thursday, May 16 at 5:45 SHARP, Chad will be hosting an advanced ride. The milage will be approx 35 miles. Expect a moderate to difficult pace.

Speed Night is Back - Tuesday May 7

Ride leaves from the Hughesville High School parking lot at 6pm. We will ride to the HTS (Hughesville Triangle of Speed) , let everyone get familiar with the course. Then off we go.

Each race is one or two laps, then a recovery lap. The triangle is 2.9 miles of lightly travels roads, nice surface, swept corners. After each race everyone regroups, grumbles about the wind, the slight uphill finish, and the next race starts when you get back to the start/finish line. Repeat until you've had enough. Most nights last 1.5 hours max. 30 to 35 miles.

We will try to do this every Tuesday evening except TT Tuesdays.

Don't worry about not being a "racer", this just fun on your bike. If you get dropped, jump in when the group comes around again.

This is a great time and good training.

I'm not sure of the records for last year; but I think this is close:

For 2012 - we had 6 or 7 speed nights; most wins that night, won the night.
Wilpo - 5 or 6 wins (Justin, Eric)
West Lyco - 1 win (Jay G.)
East Lyco - 0

Thurs May 30, 2013 Depart @ 5pm. Stop for dinner in northern VA. Drive to Front Royal; staying at the Quality Inn, 10 South Commerce Ave, Front Royal, VA. Rooms are reserved under my name. Bill gets the king. Free continental breakfast.

Fri May 31, 2013 Breakfast at hotel? Vehicles will be left in the Quality Inn parking lot. Ride Skyline Drive .... Front Royal to Big Meadows - 51 miles or longer if you like. Pick up bags at Med & Lynn's campsite. Rooms are under my name. Bill gets the king again. Sleep at Big Meadows.

Sun June 2, 2012 Ride Skyline Drive... Big Meadows to Front Royal - 51 miles. Return to Quality Inn for our vehicles. On the road to the Port by 1pm.

SVVC April 2010 10 mile Time Trial

55⁰, sunny, about 3-5 mph wind from NE made for hardly noticeable tail wind going out but a bit noticeable head wind coming back, especially where the fields opened up. Great job all on the first TT of 2010. Hope we see more folks out there next month. This is a great, flat, fast course to check your fitness or just have fun going fast.

Another outstanding evening for great times at the monthly TT. Very light wind from the SSW caused a hardly noticeable head wind to quarter head wind going out and gave you a nice push on the way back.

Wow, we just can’t loose. So far this year, each evening we’ve held the monthly TT, conditions have been just about perfect. Jay must be a weatherman on the side since he keeps adjusting the TT date (obviously to correspond to the great conditions!). This time the very light wind was from the ESE resulting in a slight head wind to quarter head wind going out and again, gave you a nice push on the way back. Looks like times are continuing to drop as the season goes on (which is how it’s suppose to work). Great job everyone!

Humid, thick air made it harder going than previous TTs but, as Jay said, you could breath easier and not have that dry hacking cough afterward.

Fairly nice conditions though Christine was worried about the potential for lightning and was preparing her ditch dive, bike throw move. Turned out it was just a little humid and warm with a very slight head wind on the return. Too bad there were only 4 of us. Hope to see a big showing for the last one in Sept.

Well, it wasn't exactly a stellar turnout but we had a good ride.
Conditions were good, slight wind from various directions but warm and no rain or storms like the last TT.
